Nuvei and BlackLine integrate payments into invoicing

Nuvei and BlackLine have added payments to the invoice workflow, allowing enterprises to accept funds directly within BlackLine’s digital environment. The integration is currently live for enterprise clients and intends to streamline how businesses handle receivables.
Closing the gap in cash collection
Many finance teams have moved invoicing, accounts receivable, and reporting into digital platforms, yet payment collection often remains fragmented. This disconnect creates friction that usually slows down collections and increases manual processing efforts. It also makes it harder for finance leaders to track cash positions as invoices move through the cycle. The new partnership addresses this by removing separate payment steps that frequently sit outside finance systems entirely.
Under the agreement, customers can accept a variety of payment methods directly on the invoice itself. This includes cards, bank transfers, and local payment options. Businesses can also track payment status in real time and give customers a single place to view or query an invoice. The system supports 150 currencies across more than 190 markets, giving companies access to a wide global footprint.

For large organizations handling high volumes of invoices across multiple countries, this integration reduces the need for staff to re-key payment data between platforms. It combines invoice presentment, payment acceptance, and automated reconciliation in one system. This centralization helps simplify complex financial operations that often span different regions and currencies.
While most modern software promises efficiency through automation, the physical act of moving money between institutions remains surprisingly analog. Bridging this gap requires more than just a button; it demands a structural change in how software architects view the lifecycle of a transaction, treating real-time liquidity management as a core component of the ledger rather than an afterthought.
The pressure on the CFO’s office
The partnership comes as finance departments face growing pressure to improve liquidity management while maintaining tighter control over back-office operations. Companies are actively seeking ways to shorten the time between issuing an invoice and receiving cleared funds. This speed is increasingly critical as treasurers and chief financial officers seek better oversight of working capital.

For BlackLine, adding integrated payment acceptance makes its platform more central to daily finance operations. Rather than sending customers to an external payment page or relying on manual bank reconciliation, users can keep invoicing, payment collection, and matching in one place. BlackLine serves more than 4,300 customers across industries, giving Nuvei access to companies that already use digital systems for accounting and receivables management.
Andy Liley, Managing Director of Invoice-to-Cash at BlackLine, explained the rationale behind the deal. “Finance leaders are under increasing pressure to improve cash flow while operating more efficiently,” Liley said. “Offering flexibility in customer payment receipts plays a critical role in that process, yet it has often remained separate from the systems used to manage invoicing, collections, and receivables. This partnership brings those capabilities together, helping customers streamline invoice-to-cash operations while delivering a better payment experience.”
The move reflects a broader shift across business software to integrate payments more tightly into operational systems. In invoice-to-cash, this means linking invoice delivery, payment acceptance, remittance data, and reconciliation in the same workflow. This allows finance teams to see exactly when an invoice has been opened, queried, paid, and posted.

Reducing the burden of reconciliation
Automatic matching of incoming payments to receivables is a key feature of the new integration. This capability is significant because reconciliation has long been one of the most labor-intensive parts of finance operations. This difficulty often increases when payment references are incomplete or when funds arrive through different methods and banking channels.
By matching payments automatically, businesses can reduce the volume of exceptions that require manual investigation. The practical impact depends on how well customer payment data aligns with invoice records, but the potential to reduce staff workload is clear. Nuvei has been expanding the use of its payment services within platforms businesses rely on for core financial processes, and this collaboration with BlackLine extends that reach.
Nuvei’s network supports local acquiring in 52 markets and more than 720 alternative payment methods. This extensive network allows BlackLine customers to collect funds seamlessly regardless of where their customers are located. The integration effectively treats payment collection as a natural extension of the invoice process rather than a separate administrative hurdle.
