Footwear retailer Clarks has opened a second store in Paris, marking a significant expansion of its physical footprint in France. The Somerset‑founded company unveiled its new location at 11 Boulevard de la Madeleine, placing it in a high‑profile district near Place de la Madeleine and the major shopping thoroughfare of Boulevard Haussmann.

European growth strategy

The Paris launch is part of a broader push to increase retail presence across Europe. The retailer targets three additional openings in France before the end of 2026, according to the report. This follows a wave of new store openings in other key markets, including Spain, Italy, Belgium and the UK.

Recent openings include locations in Barcelona and Bilbao in Spain, along with several new sites across Italy.

It is pursuing this growth through a mix of directly managed stores, wholesale distribution, franchise partnerships, ecommerce and marketplaces. The strategy aims to strengthen the brand in established markets while reaching new customer segments.

Clarks has also expanded its European wholesale network for the autumn/winter 2026 season. It began working with 120 new multi‑brand accounts across Europe and the UK. This move supports greater distribution of the brand through selected retail partners.

Management perspective

Clarks president UK and Europe Joe Ulloa described the Paris opening as an important moment for the company in France. He stated that the location on Boulevard de la Madeleine gives the brand an excellent platform to introduce customers to its history.

“Paris is one of the world’s most influential retail and fashion destinations, and this new location gives us an excellent platform from which to introduce more customers to the quality, comfort and design that have defined Clarks for more than 200 years,” Ulloa said.

The management noted that despite this being the second store in the capital, it is only one part of the larger ambition for the French market. With three further openings planned this year, the retailer is focused on building a stronger retail network while simultaneously expanding through wholesale channels.

France is viewed as central to the wider European growth plans. Management believes there is significant potential to build a larger, more relevant and more accessible business within the country.
