Family Express buys six Indiana Leo’s Market locations - leo’s market acquisition
Stephanie White-Longworth, Leo’s owner and president, described the partnership as an opportunity to strengthen its commissary while focusing on the Leo’s Eatery concept.

Family Express will acquire six Leo’s Market & Eatery locations in Indiana while maintaining the brand’s food products in its own stores. The agreement, revealed Monday, covers six convenience stores with fuel in Indianapolis and Lafayette, but Leo’s will retain its standalone McCordsville location—a smaller, fuel-free Leo’s Eatery concept. The deal also establishes a supply partnership, ensuring Leo’s branded items, such as kolaches, sandwiches, and salads, remain available in Family Express’s approximately 90 Indiana convenience stores.

The acquired sites will operate under the Family Express banner but continue offering Leo’s signature prepared foods, with plans to extend those products across the entire chain. This arrangement allows Leo’s to concentrate on expanding its food program and commissary operations without the operational burden of managing fuel stations. The move supports Family Express’s previously announced $100 million commitment to new store development in Indiana, according to the companies’ joint statement.

Stephanie White-Longworth, Leo’s owner and president, described the partnership as an opportunity to strengthen its commissary while focusing on the Leo’s Eatery concept. Gus Olympidis, Family Express CEO, emphasized Leo’s reputation for quality and its famous kolaches, stating the collaboration would expand access to those products for more customers. The transaction is set to finalize later this fall, though the purchase price remains undisclosed.

The agreement preserves Leo’s Eatery concept in McCordsville, a standalone model distinct from its larger, fuel-equipped stores. This format, which operates at roughly half the size of a traditional Leo’s location, will remain independent under the original ownership. Meanwhile, the six acquired sites will transition under Family Express’s management while retaining Leo’s food products, ensuring consistency for customers familiar with the brand’s menu.
