AutoTalker has launched a digital vehicle pricing platform for dealerships, linking live dealership data to showroom and forecourt displays in real time.

The system replaces paper windscreen cards and manual updates, which remain common despite broader adoption of digital retail tools. Research cited by the company found 72% of UK car buyers still prefer completing purchases at dealerships, while 52% are more likely to buy if pricing is transparent and consistent between online listings and physical displays.

Closing the gap between digital and physical retail

The platform synchronizes pricing, finance offers, and vehicle details from dealership management systems to digital screens. Updates can be made centrally, reducing administrative work for staff. A survey showed 84% of dealerships now use some form of digital retail technology, yet many still rely on manual processes for showroom pricing.

Andrew Wood, AutoTalker’s founder and CEO, said the goal wasn’t just to swap paper for screens but to integrate pricing, finance messaging, and customer information with existing systems. “Dealerships have invested significantly in digital retailing, websites and Dealer Management Systems, but the vehicle on the forecourt has often remained disconnected from those systems,” he said.

The software was built specifically for automotive retail rather than adapted from electronic shelf-labeling systems used in other industries. It connects with Dealer Management Systems, automatically updates sold or reserved vehicles, and includes tools for multi-site dealer groups.

A recent deployment involved over 100 digital displays across two sites for a franchised dealership group. The installation replaced paper price cards with branded digital screens, including QR codes for customer inquiries. The first site transitioned in a day after a half-day training session, while the second was set up by the dealership’s own team.

Consistency as a sales tool

For dealers, the platform solves a persistent issue: mismatched pricing across online listings, printed materials, and forecourt displays. That inconsistency can create confusion for buyers and extra work for staff. The system ensures alignment between digital and physical sales channels, which matters as customers move between online research and in-person visits.

Dealerships have invested heavily in websites and digital retail platforms, but physical displays around vehicles have often lagged. The move toward digital pricing reflects efforts to modernize showrooms while keeping the branch network many buyers still prefer.

The platform works for car, commercial vehicle, and leisure vehicle dealerships. It integrates with existing dealer software rather than replacing it, fitting into established processes. Recent deployments show it can scale across large retail sites and multi-site groups while keeping pricing synchronized.

Wood said the challenge wasn’t just creating a digital display but building a system that connected live vehicle data in a way that matched how automotive retailers operate. The result reduced friction in the sales process for both staff and customers.

AutoTalker’s rollout arrives as dealerships face pressure to modernize without alienating buyers who value in-person experiences. Transparent pricing and accurate vehicle information on the forecourt have become key factors, especially as online research continues to influence purchasing decisions. These tools also help streamline workflows, similar to how AI collaborators assist creative teams in managing projects.
